On Saturday July 28, Nathan Auction & Real Estate Inc. will be conducting an Estate and Fine Art Auction at the Performing Arts building at Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester Village, Vermont. The majority of the material in this auction comes from longtime collectors Gerald and Joan Sloane of Arlington, VT have sold their house and are selling everything at auction.
Highlights of this auction
include the results of some exciting recent house calls. Specifically,
a Matteson Chest from Shaftsbury, Vermont ca 1825. It is a lift top
blanket chest with extraordinarily vivid, bold and original paint.
This chest comes from the Bennington, Vermont estate of Mrs. Marie Baldwin
where it has been quietly kept since 1928 in the shadow of the Bennington
Monument. Also from a Dorset, Vermont collector comes an Ogden Pleissner
oil on board. It is a lovely small autumnal scene, which used to hang
beside Mrs. Pleissner’s bed in her Manchester residence. A clean 1970
Mercedes Benz 4.5 SEL will be sold as well as many carpets, paintings,
prints, porcelain plus a nice assortment of smalls and antique furniture.
